그래서 그날, 모세는 나에게 ‘당신이 들어갔던 땅은 당신의 땅이 될 것이오.
당신의 자녀가 그 땅을 영원토록 가지게 될 것이오.
당신이 나의 하나님 여호와를 온전히 믿었기 때문
그 땅을 당신에게 주겠소’ 라고 약속했습니다.
주께서 약속해 주셨던 것과 같이,
여호와께서는 이 말씀을 모세에게 하신 후부터 지금까지
나를 사십오 년 동안을 더 살게 해 주셨습니다.
그동안, 우리 모두는 광야에서 떠돌아다녔고
이제 나는 팔십오 세가 되었습니다.
나는 모세가 나를 보냈던 때처럼 튼튼합니다.
나는 지금도 얼마든지 그때처럼 싸울 수 있습니다.
So that day Moses solemnly promised me,
‘The land of Canaan on which you were just walking will be your grant of land and
that of your descendants forever,
because you wholeheartedly followed the LORD my God.’
“Now, as you can see, the LORD has kept me alive and well
as he promised for all these forty-five years since Moses made this promise-even
while Israel wandered in the wilderness.
Today I am eighty-five years old.
I am as strong now as I was when Moses sent me on that journey, and
I can still travel and fight as well as I could then.
